Fahrbericht Volvo S80 AWD | Bei dem piept’s wohl!

„Passen Sie bloß auf, wenn Sie auf das Gaspedal treten“, werde ich vom Überbringer des Schweden aufgeklärt, als ich ihn zum Bahnhof bringe. „Der geht ab wie nix gutes!“ Ich bringe ein kleines Lächeln auf, um der lieb gemeinten Warnung Aufmerksamkeit zu zollen. Der Überbringer ist voll des Lobes, geradezu euphorisch. Der Schwede hat bei ihm großes geleistet, wie es scheint.

Nun ja, er ist auch nicht der Kleinste. Mit einer recht imposanten Länge von 4,80 m bewegt er sich auf dem Level von A6, 5er und E-Klasse. Mit Audi teilt er sich sogar eine Gemeinsamkeit. In der Basis gibt’s einen dicken Happen mit schlappem Motor und freundlich untersteuerndem Fahrverhalten dank Frontantrieb. Aber in der Vollendung gibt es Hubraum, Sound und Allrad. Quasi existenzielle Grundbedürfnisse eines jeden Mannes. Fakten auf den Tisch, der Schwede hat einen Namen: Volvo S80.

Faszinierend, wie der Freundes- und Bekanntenkreis auf das Fahrzeug reagiert. „Was fährste denn jetzt wieder für eine Protzkarre“ werde ich gefragt. Volvo und mein Bekanntenkreis scheinen irgendwie nicht per Du zu sein, denn kaum erwähnte ich das böse V-Wort, folgte bloß ein: „Aha…“ Noch nicht einmal den Hauch einer Chance bekam ich, um zu erwähnen, dass hier ein schick verpackter V8 unter der Haube wütet. Stattdessen kam eine faszinierende Ansammlung von Desinteresse zum Vorschein. Nun gut, das hält mich aber trotzdem nicht davon ab, den S80 drei Wochen lang auf Herz und Nieren zu testen.

Das äußere Antlitz ist alles andere als protzig. Man übt sich in nordisch kühlem Understatement. Im Gegensatz zu seinen Konkurrenten der Oberklasse, möchte der S80 seine Fahrgäste unauffällig von A nach B bringen. Von einer aggressiven Front im Stil von BMW oder vom pompösen Auftritt eines Mercedes, entfernt sich der S80 soweit es geht. Mit diesem Auto darf man den Luxus der Oberklasse genießen, ohne den Neid der Umwelt zu spüren. Das ist gewollt und kommt besonders in den USA, wo der Hauptabsatzmarkt des S80 ist, gut an.

Aussen: nordisch kühles Understatement

Gleich zu Anfang geht es zu einem Termin nach Süddeutschland. So durfte sich der Achtzylinder sofort einem Reisetest unterziehen. Dabei fiel besonders die Soundkulisse angenehm auf. Der Klang liegt irgendwo zwischen dem sonoren Grummeln eines Mercedes und der faszinierenden Laufruhe eines Lexus. Nicht zu laut und nicht zu leise. Genau der richtige Ton für ein Familienauto. Besonders lustig ist es anzusehen, wenn man den Motor an der Ampel kurz aufheulen lässt. Denn darauf versucht die männliche Gattung dem Sound ein Gesicht zu geben… und sie schauen alle gnadenlos am Volvo vorbei.

Dieses Understatement macht den Volvo S80 noch interessanter. Dank eines satten Hubraums von knapp viereinhalb, schickt das nett anzuschauende V8-Aggregat 315 Pferde auf die Räder. Mit einem maximalen Drehmoment von 440 Nm spurtet der Schwede in nur 6,5 Sekunden von 0 auf 100. Der Vorwärtsdrang endet erst bei Tempo 250. Das Fahrwerk könnte, trotz verstellbarer Dämpfungsstufen, zumindest im Sportmodus ein ganzes Stück straffer sein. Ab Tempo 220 fühlen sich die 1,8 Tonnen Leergewicht doch recht schwammig an. Die Automatik funktioniert dabei jedoch tadellos. Man merkt schnell, dieses Auto ist voll und ganz auf den amerikanischen Markt zugeschnitten.

Auch Innen: Understatement im Luxus Trimm

Auch der Innenraum gibt sich zurückhaltend. Dennoch wirkt er gut verarbeitet und alle Schaltelemente fühlen sich gut an. Die Ledersitze sind bequem, bieten allerdings kaum Seitenhalt. Alles sitzt an seinem Platz und das Navigationssystem kommt nur bei Bedarf aus der Mittelkonsole hervor. Bedient wird sie über eine simple Steuerung, direkt am Lenkrad. So muss der Fahrer auch während der Fahrt nicht die Hände vom Lenkrad nehmen. Im Fond dürfen sich die Beifahrer über ein DVD Multimedia System (optional) freuen.

Einen besonderen Härtetest hatte der S80 als Hochzeitsauto zu überstehen. Hübsch dekoriert hieß es nun die Braut samt Bräutigam sicher von der Kirche zur abendlichen Feier zu geleiten. Und er enttäuschte nicht ein Stück. Der geräumige Fond ließ genug Platz für den großen Bräutigam und die Braut, mit ihrem doch sehr pompösen Kleid. Der laufruhige V8 schnurrte vor sich hin und die komfortabel abgestimmte Federung brachte die beiden glücklich Vermählten zu Feierlocation. Ein perfekter Abend mit einem scheinbar perfekten Gentleman.

Wenn piepen zur Nötigung wird

Am nächsten Tag ging es mit zwei hübschen Ladys im Gepäck von Hamburg nach Rostock. Unter Vollgas schnell zu bewältigen. Bis Tempo 180 erledigte der S80 dies auch souverän. Doch hier zeigte sich, dass sich die Damen bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten eher unwohl fühlten. Das ist besonders interessant, weil die Beiden zuvor in einem bayrischen Fabrikat mitfuhren und dort selbst bei 250 Sachen die komplette Fahrt über geschlafen haben.

Der Schwede schafft es sogar, den Fahrer und Mitfahrer konsequent in den Wahnsinn zu treiben. Denn der S80 piept nicht nur an allen Ecken, er setzt noch visuell eins drauf und nutzt die gesamte optische Wahrnehmung des Fahrers mittels aufblinkender LED-Lights.

In der Praxis kann man sich das in etwa so vorzustellen: Fahre ich zu nah auf oder jemand schiebt sich auf der Autobahn vor mich leuchten in der Windschutzscheibe rote LEDs auf. Ok, soweit ist es noch auszuhalten. Wird’s dem Dicken dann doch ein bisschen zu heikel, kommt noch ein wenig mehr Licht dazu und ein wunderbar nerviger Warnsound. Besonders cool kommt dies, wenn meilenweit Niemand vor einem fährt und sich aus heiterem Himmel das Warnsignal anschaltet.

Oder nehmen wir die Parksensoren. Im Grunde genommen sind akustische Parksensoren ein Segen für Jedermann. Wenn diese sich allerdings an jeder zweiten Ampel einschalten und zudem das Radio automatisch leiser wird, fängt es durchaus an unentspannt zu werden. Noch nicht genug? Hey, da haben wir noch die tolle Funktion des Lane Assistent, der darauf achtet, dass man auch brav in der Spur bleibt.

Was bei anderen Herstellern gerne per Vibrieren im Lenkrad signalisiert wird, gibt der Schwede mit einem weiteren herrlichen Piepskonzert wieder. Das treibt den Fahrer, besonders auf den vielen Autobahnbaustellen, in den Wahnsinn. Einzig der wirklich perfekt abgestimmte Abstandsradar mit Tempomat und der Rechte-Winkel-Warner in den Außenspiegeln, sind wirklich exzellente Gimmicks, auf die man ungern wieder verzichtet. Und den Rest kann man ja zur Not auch abschalten.

Auch die Heckklappe verdient eine Rüge. Meist wird er in den Fahrberichten von mir ignoriert, der Kofferraum. Solange mein Reisekoffer samt Fotosachen oder auch die Einkäufe aus dem Supermarkt souverän verstaut werden können, reicht mir das vollkommen aus. Wenn allerdings noch nicht einmal ein handelsüblicher Umzugskarton durch die unpraktische Luke in den Kofferraum passt, ist das ein Defizit, das es zu erwähnen gilt.

Fazit: Der Volvo S80 V8 ist ein harmonisches Automobil für Käufer, die Wert auf Understatement und Laufruhe legen. Der Motor ist ein kleines Sahnestück, was man leider nicht von der viel zu schwammigen Federung behaupten kann. Hohe Geschwindigkeiten werden von Mitfahrern als unangenehm empfunden und auch das Lenkrad gibt viel zu wenig Feedback von der Straße wieder. Ausserdem stört der viel zu kleine Kofferraumdeckel, durch den noch nicht einmal ein handelsüblicher Umzugskarton passen will.

Es ist schade, dass der Wagen, trotz des adaptiven Fahrwerks immer noch so amerikanisch schwammig rüberkommt. Mit ein paar Optimierungen an dem Fahrwerk hätte der S80 auch in Europa wesentlich mehr Fans. Wer es jedoch nicht eilig hat und die Laufruhe eines V8 zu schätzen weiß, hat hier einen angenehmen Reisegefährten gefunden… bis dieser anfängt zu piepen…

How do you get a man to smile? For example, take him to an island with barley naked models. It promotes the reproductive drive, but it costs in retrospect a lot of family allowances. You could appeal to his hunting instincts and give him the new Audi RS6.

For two weeks I had him with me. Two weeks, this promised a lot of fun. Two weeks and 1.500 miles long, he was „MINE“. And, how I reluctantly gave him back…

Decent grafted – Sporty trim business

Even this appearance. Sporty, but still elegant. At the front on the wide black-guards: the RS6 logo. To provide enough air, the inlets in the front have been enlarged. The fog light now sits alongside the Xenon headlights. This benefits the air flow in the front apron, which was also newly designed.

Together with the wider fenders and the daytime running lights, consisting of ten Led’s, the RS6 announces himself very present in the rear-view mirror of each left-track blocker. In order to save weight, the front fenders and the engine hood are made of aluminium.

Also, the side view is dynamic. Apart from the sporting side, the citizens of Ingolstadt tear with standard 19-inch, optional with 20-inch aluminium wheels, if applicable. The stern also has been optimized. In addition to a broad diffuser, at the left and right oval exhaust tailpipes are used. The luggage compartment is integrated in the flap rear spoiler and ensures reduced lift on the road.

Practicality – Sports lounge

The RS6 is more like a sporty business limousine with a high daily benefit. All attributes of the A6 are also obtained in the high-performance version. So the interior shines and has still a lot of comfort and spaciousness for the driver and front passenger. I wanted to do this immediately.

Already on the first day, the RS6 had its everyday practicality test. There was a larger desk I’ve wanted to buy. This small test the Audi won with flying colours. The already large trunk (546 litres) had, thanks to the split folding rear seat, much room to expand. All desk items fit easily into the giant boot. The everyday life test the Audi has passed flawlessly.

Audi RS – 15 years of know-how

When the selector is switched to S, it moves forward much more aggressive. Nowadays, even a small intermediate push with the feet and the Audi stretches the muscles for a quick sprint.

Who wants beat the switching gears manually, using paddles up and down. Again and again, because then the most beautifull intermediate gas sounds are coming down from the tailpipes.

The interior – luxury sports

The interior of the RS6 is sporty and luxurious. Aluminium bars with initial RS6 lettering receive driver and passenger when boarding. The comfortable leather sports seats with embossed RS6-type, have even at fast cornering a good lateral support. The speedometer also welcomes with RS6 logo and displays a max of 320 km / h.

Decor Elements from Carbon adorn both of the central tunnel and the decorative elements in the doors. The multi-function sport leather steering wheel lays comfortably in the hand and is in reference to racing down flat.

The multi-function keys feel good and give you quick access to telephone, navigation and audio functions. The shift paddles are located directly behind the steering wheel and you can therefore operate good also during the trip curve.

The MMI operating system is a matter of taste and behind the shifter rather poorly positioned. A user-friendly positioning in front of the shifter, as in the Audi R8, would have been a much better choice. Also annoying is the positioning of the speaker control on the passenger side. Thus, the driver is no longer entirely the master of the sounds, which escape out of the excellent Bose system.

The chassis: Comfort, Dynamic or Sport?

The optional sports suspension plus sets itself on the respective needs of the driver, thanks to the dynamics of technology-ride, and guarantees carefree progress in everyday life. By pushing a button, the driver can decide how comfortable he wants to move forward. So in the comfort mode it is very relaxed on the matter, soil roughness are very well spring-mounted, perfect for family rides. The dynamic mode is the optimal balance between comfort and sportiness. This mode makes you basically never get wrong.

If it looks sporty on the road, or even on the track, it should go ahead, just the push of a button and the RS6 is taut and tired on the asphalt. This allows the ESP to be switched off in two steps.

The first push on the ESP Button allowes dynamic cornering with a small security anchor, the second stage switches the electronics completely. But even then the RS6 is not getting worked up. Thanks to Quattro.

That is possible to track with the RS6 in the curves is beyond question. Thanks to the back-heavy drive, drifts are even possible, but only with much coaxing coarse executes. For this discipline, there are undoubtedly better companions. But it is the idea that you could, if you like.

The consumption: cough, cough….

Consumption, as measured by the performance data, is within an acceptable range. On average, the RS6 did it with 17 to 16 MPG of gasoline. In the city the consumption, especially when there are a lot of traffic lights, is significantly high. Values around 13 MPG to 12 are not uncommon.

Who drives much on highways, may also like some security features. Thus, the driver with all sorts of technical folderol, such as lane keeping assistant, right angle-alerter in the rear-view mirrors and Distance Control feel well looked after.

Brute force – optional with ceramic

To curb this brute power, the brakes must apply at any time excellence output. Ensure standard 390 mm front brake discs with six-piston aluminium saddle. At the rear wheels the brake disks with 365 mm in diameter and one piston-floating saddles are used.

Who is still a little „manageable“, may resort to ceramic brakes, in combination with the 20-inch wheels. This reduces the weight by 12.2 pounds and it holds to 300,000 km. Of course we can discuss about the meaning and purpose of such a vehicle, but the fact is that there is a market for such vehicles.

Audi has been understood, to not transform the RS6 to a prole car. Instead, the RS6 is educated and well-behaved and is always good to handle. Also, the visibility was in positive. That is been rare. Ultimately you will probably get from A to B with a 2.0 TDI – the only question is, who will have more fun.

It was expected that BMW after the success of the X6 would start with hermaphrodites. In Lisbon, the new 5-GT was presented. This will set new standards in the luxury middle class. One has been done in any case already. The GT stands for Gran Turismo, and despite of the very polarizing designs this BMW has the right stuff to become a giant.

When I arrived at the airport in Lisbon, my eye caught quickly the new field at the BMW league. An avid BMW employee literally snatches the baggage out of the hands and stowed it in the maw of the generous trunk space. The silhouette of this Bavarian at the first glance does not look like a Womanizer on four wheels, rather like the pimply little brother of the X6…

The first look: Interesting….

The outer shell of the BMW 5 Series BMW Gran Turismo combines typical proportions – a streamlined silhouette, a coupe-like roof line, and four doors with frameless windows – an interesting unit. With a length of five meters and a width of 1.90 meters the Gran Turismo is anything but dainty. It has a considerable body height of 1.56 meters. With these very impressive dimensions and the long wheelbase BMW placed the GT directly between 5 Series and 7 Series.

„Believe me, you have to let this car work on you“ am I told. My answer is hardly more than a sceptical eye glance, and the rear door is already open. A new way of getting to know a car namely with a chauffeur.

His real strength: The interior

It turns out that the guys at BMW have been very creative. For here we read: „To meet the car from the inside to the outside“. A rogue who thinks evil. But everything about the outer shell is forgotten as soon as we can propagate in the ground, and that is quite literally.

The sense of space is fantastic, despite the sloping rear roof line, not least thanks to the bright leather trim and huge panoramic roof. Exclusive materials dominate the whole interior; everything sits perfectly in its place. All the comfortable seats can be configured individually.

And it goes on in the ground. The legroom is that of a luxury sedan. The optional monitor shining through a high resolution and excellent colour reproduction. Using a remote control, the monitors can be controlled separately. Thus, one can watch the latest movies while the other is happily on the Internet.

Even the ride, including the pleasant shock damping leaves little to be desired. In no other BMW sedan with the exception of the BMW 760 in the long version you will feel more comfortable as a passenger.

The second look: the sympathy grows …

Arriving at the hotel, I am almost tempted to say with a snobbish undertone: „James, please open the door“, so sublime, I feel after this ride. I can resist, luckily just so. Barely got out, take a more detailed look at the sheet metal dress.
The front view provides dynamic, not least by the presence of the upright BMW kidney grille, the large air intakes and slanted double circular. The daytime running light is first presented by corona rings with LED technology. The stern wins more horizontal lines in breadth, which is fed by the L-shaped taillights with homogeneously bright LED’s.

As much as the X6 flashed me at first glance, so little can the 5 GT at the second. However, he do not looks so spotty anymore after the outward journey in the rear, but entirely fine-tuned on the driver and passenger.

Never in my life, would I have thought that there would be that much headroom despite the sloping roofline. The recently tested X6 showed exactly here, where his contras were. But the 5-GT they’ve really thought from the inside out. And slowly wide sympathy for the little ones came up.

Finally driving myself

After a quick check-in at the hotel I can now finally test him. The elevated seating position allows a more comfortable entry and provides a greater clarity on the roads. The cockpit itself is perfectly processed. The driver will be pampered in the centre console with a large widescreen LED display. The I-drive, the latest generation, provides a fixed implementation of the commands.

For me, as I-phone freak of the first generation, may not be missing the USB integration. This works perfectly. However, for the perfectly integrated music taste, as with other manufacturers, a special cable has to be optional ordered to do so.

Rear visibility is equated with that of the X6, relentlessly bad and a tribute to the design. Which was well aware of BMW and therefore the Park Distance Control system is standard. Of course, just for the heck, for all round „beep beep“ is extra. However, a rear-view camera is a useful additional investment.

The LCD Display is brilliant. The screen is sharp and active, almost without delay. A significant step forward, for the X6, which is currently being shipped with the old system. But now the engine is first started. Over hundreds of kilometres along the coast is expecting me, the twisty mountain roads and through the beautiful Lisbon.

great engine pulls a lot of weight

The much-appreciated 35i provides good driving, and comes completely revised. For the first time turbo charging, gasoline direct injection and fully variable valve control VALVETRONIC are combined. That should make more efficient fuel consumption.

From 1,200 to 5,000 rpm are available at an output of 225 kW / 306 PS 400 Nm of maximum torque. Thus the series of six successful sprints from 0 to 100 in just 6.3 seconds and a maximum top speed of 250 km / h (electronically limited).

However, if you have 2 tons on the ribs, should not be surprised if even the best aggregate eventually makes slack. The usually for a gasoline engine very pleasant torque band almost fizzles out and only at high speeds the series of six came up again.
But sporty like this the main part of the buyers would drive rare. Here, the recommendation is clearly towards 3.0d. Full torque from the basement, with an efficient fuel consumption, which today are the magic words. Who cries for more power, get the 550i whopping 300 kW/407 hp V8 from a Twin Turbo.

Suspension: Gran Turismo Deluxe

The chassis is sublime, no doubt, just as it is just one of a BMW. Therefore, with the adaptive suspension provides roll stabilization (3,000 €). At-speed corners hounding soon is clear that BMW is very serious about giving character to comfort-trip cars. The GT can be irritating and rather reluctantly inclined to safety under steer. The rear only give word when harsh load changes are provoked.

However, the sedan masters the sporty cornering with absolute sovereignty and can not miss the joy of driving. The steering wheel can be activated depending on the smooth comfort mode (normal) or tightly (sport and sport + move). Similarly, the chassis and the motor reacting are thereby influenced. The precise nature of the Bavaria steering behaviour is still given, but feels a little soft than usual – to match the travel character.

Steptronic: here and there a little delay shifting

In city traffic, the first time outside of the 7 Series, the available 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission is struggling with significant problems. Far too often the automatic response even in sport mode too slow and takes gas orders often very delayed.
Especially in a city like Lisbon with a lot of roundabout and short acceleration traces this weakness is quickly clear. On country roads or the highway there is nothing to complain; here the GT satisfied perfectly and has to be called, without any ifs and buts an excellent trip car.

Big hatchback, small hatchback it is your choice…

At the photo shoot in a small fishing village some more details on the GT came up. If at all possible, BMW can always find some way of divide the trunk. In Gran Turismo, this was interesting to solve. Normally, the trunk has a capacity to 440 litres in volume. In addition, a wall against annoying drafts was installed in the rear. If necessary, the rear seats can be folded down and the storage space increases to 1,700 litres.

Who wants only little things in the trunk, may do so by a small hatchback. Especially in garages with low ceilings, the little hatch is worth gold. Will there be something more; the entire tailgate can be opened like a lift back.

Bestsellers Character

After getting out, another look fell on the body. And somehow it is now reality, I started to like him. I can not say why, but I know only in its entirety, I really appreciate this car. The Gran Turismo definitely polarizes. This is as clear as the Amen in church. Nevertheless, the Gran Turismo is an excellent choice for well-heeled skiers, families of four or even as a chauffeur car.

The neutral design of the chassis and the light steering can miss a little of the typical sporting character of BMW. The interior shines with this luxury 7 Series level. And that’s why the new 5 Series Gran Turismo has the potential to be a bestseller.

Es war zu erwarten, dass BMW nach dem Erfolg des X6 erst richtig mit dem zwittern beginnt. In Lissabon wurde der neue 5er GT präsentiert. Dieser soll neue Maßstäbe in der luxuriösen Mittelklasse setzen. Eines wurde auf jeden Fall schon geschafft. Das GT steht für Gran Turismo und trotz des doch recht polarisierenden Designs hat dieser BMW das Zeug dazu, ein ganz Großer zu werden.

Kaum am Flughafen in Lissabon angekommen, erhascht mein Blickfeld schnell den neuen im BMW-Bunde. Ein eifriger BMW Mitarbeiter reißt mir das Gepäck förmlich aus den Händen und verstaut es in dem großzügigen Schlund des Kofferraums. Die Silhouette des Bayern wirkt für mich auf den ersten Blick nicht gerade wie ein Womanizer auf vier Rädern, eher wie der kleine pickelige kleine Bruder des X6…

Der erste Blick: Interessant….

Die Außenhülle des BMW 5er Gran Turismo verbindet BMW typische Proportionen – eine gestreckte Silhouette, eine Coupé-artige Dachlinie sowie vier Türen mit rahmenlosen Scheiben – zu einer interessanten Einheit. Mit einer Länge von fünf Metern und einer Breite von 1,90 Meter ist der Gran Turismo alles andere als zierlich. Dazu kommt eine stattliche Karosseriehöhe von 1,56 Meter. Mit diesen recht imposanten Außenmaßen und dem langen Radstand platziert BMW den GT direkt zwischen 5er und 7er.

„Glauben Sie mir, dieses Auto muss man erstmal auf sich wirken lassen.“ wird mir von den Mitarbeitern vor Ort prophezeit. Meine Antwort lässt kaum mehr als einen skeptischen Augenaufschlag zu, denn schon wird mir die Tür zum Fond geöffnet. Auch mal eine neue Art ein Auto kennen zu lernen, nämlich mit einem Chauffeur.

Seine wahre Stärke: Der Innenraum

Und es zeigt sich, da haben die Jungs bei BMW mal ganz kreativ gedacht. Denn hier heißt es: „Den Wagen von Innen nach Außen“ kennenlernen. Ein Schelm, der dabei Böses denkt. Aber alles Lästern über die polarisierende Außenhülle gerät in Vergessenheit sobald man sich im Fond ausbreiten darf, und das ist durchaus wörtlich gemeint.

Das Raumgefühl ist trotz der hinten abfallenden Dachlinie fantastisch, nicht zuletzt dank der hellen Lederausstattung und des riesigen Panoramadachs. Edle Materialien dominieren das gesamte Interieur, alles sitzt optimal an seinem Platz. Die bequemen Sitze lassen sich individuell konfigurieren und zwar auf allen vier Plätzen.

Und das setzt sich im Fond ohne Punkt und Komma fort. Die Beinfreiheit gleicht der einer Luxuslimousine. Die optional erhältlichen Monitore glänzen durch eine hohe Auflösung und gute Farbwiedergabe. Mittels einer Fernbedienung lassen sich die Monitore separat steuern. So kann Klein Fritz sich den neuesten Disney-Streifen anschauen während sich Teenie Julia im Internet vergnügt.

Auch der Fahrkomfort inklusive der angenehmen Stoß-Dämpfung lässt kaum Wünsche offen. In keiner anderen BMW Limousine mit Ausnahme des BMW 760 in der Langversion fühlt man sich als Fahrgast wohler.

Der zweite Blick: die Sympathie wächst…

Am Hotel angekommen fühle ich mich fast versucht im versnobten Unterton: „James, öffnen Sie mir doch bitte die Tür“ zu rufen, so erhaben fühle ich mich nach diesem Ausritt. Ich kann es mir zum Glück gerade noch so verkneifen. Kaum ausgestiegen gönne ich mir jetzt einen detaillierteren Blick auf das Blechkleid.

Die Frontansicht vermittelt Dynamik, nicht zuletzt durch die Präsenz der aufrecht stehenden BMW Niere, der großen Lufteinlässe und schräg gestellten Doppelrundscheinwerfer. Das Tagfahrlicht wird erstmals durch Coronaringe mit LED-Technik dargestellt. Das Heck gewinnt durch horizontal ausgerichtete Linien an Breitenwirkung, die auch von den L-förmigen Rückleuchten mit homogen strahlenden LED-gespeisten Lichtbänken unterstützt wird.

So sehr mich auch der X6 auf den ersten Blick geflasht hat, so wenig vermag es der 5er GT auf den zweiten zu schaffen. Allerdings wirkt er nach der Hinfahrt im Fond nicht mehr ganz so pickelig, sondern vollständig auf Fahrer und Beifahrer abgestimmt.

Nie im Leben wäre ich darauf gekommen, dass soviel Kopffreiheit trotz der abfallenden Dachlinie zustande kommt. Der kurz zuvor getestete X6 zeigte nämlich genau hier seine Contras. Aber beim 5er GT hat man wirklich von innen nach außen gedacht. Und so langsam macht sich Sympathie für den Kleinen breit.

Endlich selber Fahren

Nach einem kurzen Check-In im Hotel darf ich nun endlich auch selbst hinter das Steuer. Die erhöhte Sitzposition ermöglicht einen komfortableren Einstieg und bringt mehr Übersicht im Straßenverkehr. Auch das Cockpit gibt sich tadellos verarbeitet. Der Fahrer wird in der Mittelkonsole mit einem großen Breitbild-LED-Bildschirm verwöhnt. Das I-Drive der neuesten Generation sorgt für eine fixe Umsetzung der Befehle.

Für mich als I-Phone-Freak der ersten Generation darf natürlich auch die USB-Integrierung nicht fehlen. Diese funktioniert tadellos. Allerdings muss für den perfekt integrierten Musik-Geschmack, wie auch bei anderen Herstellern, ein spezielles Kabel optional dazu geordert werden.

Die Sicht nach hinten ist gleichgestellt mit der des X6, gnadenlos schlecht und ein Tribut an das Design. Dessen war sich BMW wohl bewusst und lässt deswegen serienmäßig das Park Distance Control System einbauen. Natürlich nur für das Heck, denn rundherum „Piep Piep“ kostet extra. Dennoch ist eine Rückfahrkamera hier eine sinnvolle Zusatzinvestition.

Dank des brillanten Displays ist das Rückfahrbild gestochen scharf und aktiviert sich fast ohne Zeitverzögerung. Ein deutlicher Fortschritt zum X6, der derzeit noch mit dem alten System ausgeliefert wird. Doch nun wird erstmal der Motor gestartet. Es erwartet uns eine mehrere hundert Kilometer lange Ausfahrt an der Küste, den kurvigen Gebirgsstraßen und durch das wunderschöne Lissabon.

Top-Motor zieht Top-Speck

Für ordentlichen Vortrieb sorgt der allseits geschätzte 35i, der komplett neu überarbeitet daherkommt. Erstmals werden Turboaufladung, Benzin-Direkteinspritzung und die vollvariable Ventilsteuerung VALVETRONIC miteinander kombiniert. Das soll für einen noch effizienteren Verbrauch sorgen.

Von 1.200 bis 5.000 Umdrehungen stehen bei einer Leistung von 225 kW / 306 PS 400 Nm an maximalen Drehmoment zur Verfügung. Damit gelingt dem Reihensechser der Sprint von 0 auf 100 in nur 6,3 Sekunden und ein maximaler Top Speed von 250 km/h (abgeregelt).

Wer allerdings 2 Tonnen auf den Rippen hat, muss sich nicht wundern wenn selbst das beste Aggregat irgendwann einmal schlapp macht. Das für einen Benziner normalerweise sehr angenehme Drehmomentband verpufft geradezu, erst in hohen Drehzahlen scheint sich der Reihensechser wieder wohl zu fühlen.

Doch so sportlich wird wohl der Hauptteil der Käufer eher selten mit dem Bavaren fahren. Hier geht die Empfehlung eindeutig in Richtung 3.0d. Sattes Drehmoment aus dem Keller mit einem effizienten Verbrauch, das sind heute die Zauberworte. Wer nach mehr Power schreit, bekommt mit dem 550i satte 300 kW/407 PS aus einem TwinTurbo V8 .

Fahrwerk: Gran Turismo Deluxe

Das Fahrwerk ist ohne Zweifel erhaben, so wie es sich eben für einen BMW gehört. Dafür sorgt das adaptive Fahrwerk mit Wankstabilisierung (3.000 €). Bei schneller Kurven-Hatz wird jedoch schnell deutlich, dass es BMW sehr ernst mit der Charaktergebung eines komfortbetonten Reiseautos meint. Der GT lässt sich ungern reizen und neigt eher zum sicherheitsbetonten Untersteuern. Das Heck meldet sich nur bei hart provozierten Lastwechseln zu Wort.

Dennoch meistert die Limousine auch sportliche Kurvenfahrten mit absoluter Souveränität und lässt die Freude am Fahren nicht vermissen. Das Lenkrad lässt sich je nach aktiviertem Modus leichtgängig (comfort, normal) oder straff (sport und sport +) bewegen. Ebenso werden hierdurch Fahrwerk und Motoransprechverhalten beeinflusst. Das bei den Bayern naturgemäß präzise Lenkradverhalten ist nach wie vor gegeben, fühlt sich aber etwas sanft gängiger als gewohnt an – passend zum Reise-Charakter.

Steptronic: hier und da ein wenig schaltfaul

Im Stadtverkehr hat das erstmals außerhalb des 7er erhältliche 8-Gang-Steptronic Automatik-Getriebe mit deutlichen Problemen zu kämpfen. Viel zu oft reagiert die Automatik selbst im Sportmodus zu träge und nimmt Gasbefehle oft sehr verzögert wahr.

Gerade in einer Stadt wie Lissabon mit viel Kreisverkehr und kurzen Beschleunigungspuren wird diese Schwäche sehr schnell deutlich. Auf Landstraßen oder der Autobahn gibt es nichts zu meckern, hier erfüllt der GT in allen Belangen tadellos seinen Job und darf sich ohne wenn und aber als exzellentes Reiseauto betiteln lassen.

Große Klappe, kleine Klappe

Beim Fotoshooting in einem kleinen Fischersdorf fallen mir weitere Details am GT auf. Sofern irgendwie möglich lässt sich BMW immer etwas einfallen, um den Kofferraum zweizuteilen. Im Gran Turismo wurde dies interessant gelöst. Im Normalfall fasst der Kofferraum akzeptable 440 Liter an Volumen. Zusätzlich wurde eine Trennwand gegen lästige Luftzüge im Fond installiert. Bei Bedarf können die Rücksitze umgeklappt werden und der Stauraum wächst auf 1.700 Liter.

Wer nur schnell Kleinigkeiten in den Kofferraum legen möchte, kann dies mittels einer kleinen Kofferraumklappe tun. Besonders in Garagen mit niedrigen Decken ist die kleine Luke Gold wert. Wird es dann doch etwas mehr, lässt sich die gesamte Heckklappe wie bei einem Liftback öffnen.

Fazit: Bestseller Charakter

Nach dem Aussteigen fällt ein weiterer Blick auf die Karosserie. Und irgendwie ist es nun Wirklichkeit geworden, er gefällt mir so langsam. Ich kann nicht sagen warum, aber erst in seiner Gesamtheit weiß man dieses Auto wirklich zu würdigen. Der Gran Turismo wird definitiv polarisieren. Das ist so klar wie das Amen in der Kirche. Dennoch ist der Gran Turismo eine exellente Wahl für gut betuchte Vielfahrer, vierköpfige Familien oder auch als Chauffeursauto.

Die neutrale Auslegung des Fahrwerks und die leichtgängige Lenkung lassen ein wenig den BMW typischen Sport-Charakter vermissen. Der Innenraum glänzt dafür mit Luxus auf 7er Niveau. Und genau deshalb hat der neue 5er Gran Turismo durchaus das Potential zu einem Bestseller.

Spaßiges Clubhopping in Hamburg mit Tomekk und Co.

Was für ein cooler Abend gestern. Erst gab es ein freudiges Wiedersehen mit DJ Tomekk mit dem ich vor ein paar Wochen in Los Angeles geshootet hatte. Danach ging es zusammen mit Jimi und Wilson Ochsenknecht samt Crew rüber zur Hamburger Modelnacht von Michael Ammer. Sehr entspannte und sympathische Jungs die beiden, auch wenn Wilson immer ein wenig grimmig daher schaute. An den Mädels kann es nicht gelegen haben, denn es liefen doch ein paar recht ansprechende Ladys dort umher.

Für Tomekk und meinereiner ging es dann aber noch rüber in H1 zur gut gefüllten Kontorparty. Tomekk natürlich schnurstracks in Richtung DJ Pult und von dort war er den Rest des Abends nicht mehr weg zu bekommen. Der lebt halt für Musik.

I think I can say that I have definitively much experience now. Whether beautiful countries, beautiful women and beautiful cars of all what was there something.

Also in terms of VIP events, I could happily have some experience. However, if the cult lifestyle drink STÄNDER (www.staender-drink.com) uses the legendary Playboy villa by Hugh Heffner for the Start in the U.S. Market, then that’s really something special.

In front of the Beverly Hills Hotel we went on the bus shuttle with attractive ladies in skimpy outfits for THE sanctuary of every man. The first target was of course the holy grail of Mansion: „The wicked grotto.“ Who was in here tasted the smell of dozens of mega-stars who sacrificed themselves to their immoral pleasure. But today was primarily about the taste of caffeinated lemon-mint drink STÄNDER and this has been consistently found to be good.

Among the 300 guests roamed among others the Berlin rapper Sido along with girlfriend Doreen, Elton, Marc Terenzi with a new flame, Germany’s showpiece Playmate Mia Gray, the sexy Darling Stilettos (www.darlingstilettos.com ), porn legend, Ron Jeremy, Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen and many more. Last but not least, DJ Tomekk and Pam’s ex Tommy Lee heated the party people with their cool sounds. A party for each of the Deluxe was loaded there. I hope you enjoy viewing the images.

Ich denke das ich mittlerweile schon durchaus behaupten kann, viel erlebt zu haben. Ob nun schöne Länder, schöne Frauen oder schöne Autos von jedem war was dabei. Auch in Sachen VIP Events durfte ich glücklicherweise schon einiges miterleben. Wenn allerdings das Kult Lifestyle Getränk STÄNDER (www.staender-drink.com) die legendäre Playboyvilla von Hugh Heffner zum US-Start nutzt, dann ist das wirklich etwas ganz besonderes.

Vorm Beverly Hills Hotel ging es im Bus-Shuttle mit attraktiven Ladys in knappen Outfits zum DEM Heiligtum eines jeden Mannes. Als erstes wurde natürlich der heilige Gral der Mansion ausfindig gemacht: „Die veruchte Grotte.“ Wer hier drin war, schmeckt den Geruch von dutzenden Megastars die sich ihrem unsittlichen Vergnügen hingaben. Doch heute ging primär um den Geschmack des koffeinhaltigen Limonen-Minz Getränks STÄNDER und der wurde durchweg für gut befunden.

Unter den 300 geladenen Gästen tummelten sich unter anderem der Berliner Rapper Sido mitsamt Freundin Doreen, Elton, Marc Terenzi mit neuer Flamme, Heidi Montag und Spencer Pratt von “The Hills“, Deutschlands Vorzeige-Playmate Mia Gray, die sexy Darling Stilettos (www.darlingstilettos.com), Porno Legende Ron Jeremy und viele mehr. Nicht zuletzt heizten DJ Tomekk und Pam’s Ex Tommy Lee die Bude mit Ihren Sounds richtig auf. Eine Party Deluxe für jeden der dort geladen war. Ich wünsche euch viel Spaß beim Sichten der Bilder.

Leider fehlt mir momentan ein wenig die Zeit meinen recht interessanten Roadtrip an der Küste Kaliforniens in meinen Blog zu verewigen. Knapp 40 Gigabyte an Bilddaten wollen selektiert und bearbeitet werden.
